Dublin Postal Clerks Branch of Communication Workers Union established a fund that enabled the University to provide Instrumental Tuition Awards. This fund was established in memory of Donal Gleeson at University College Cork. No more than four awards will be made year at the university. Deserving undergraduates in the Music Department are eligible. This award is meant to help defray the cost of the individial instrumental lessons they are required to take. One award will made to a student that wishes to take tuition for an Irish Traditional Instrument. Financial circumstances will be taken into account when deciding the students that will receive this award. Instrument proficiency will also be a factor in deciding the recipient of the award. Selection for the award will be based on the student's end of the year recital.
