About this scholarship
Benefit
You will receive a monthly grant to fund your PhD in the humanities or social sciences in France. The amount depends on your financial circumstances and is therefore not fixed. No specific amount is mentioned in the sources. The grant is administered by CROUS, the national network of student services organisations, which manages student financial support throughout France.
Who can apply
- Nationality: You are a French citizen.
- Degree so far: You hold a DEA or a research master’s degree 2 (Master’s 2 in Research). These are the qualifications required for a PhD.
- What you study: You are writing a doctoral thesis in the humanities (lettres) or the social sciences and humanities (sciences humaines).
- Where you study: You are enrolled at a doctoral school (école doctorale) in France.
- Financial need: As your income and assets will be assessed, this offer is aimed at students who need financial support.
- Academic record: Your DEA or Master’s results are taken into account, and your supervisor must consider your dissertation topic to be appropriate.
How to apply
You should submit your application to the CROUS office for your region of study or to the social services department at your own university. Ask them for the latest forms and the deadline.
