About this scholarship

ScottishPower Master Scholarship

Whilst studying for your Master’s degree at a UK university, you will receive £1,200 per month (about 1,400 EUR) for one year. In addition, ScottishPower will cover your full tuition fees and provide you with a mentor from within the company – an experienced member of staff who will support you with industry-related academic projects. The scholarship runs for one calendar year from the start of your studies. The monthly payments are subject to UK income tax. ScottishPower is part of the Iberdrola energy group and awards the scholarship to attract new talent to the energy sector; this may also open up career opportunities within the company.

Who can apply

  • Degree level: You are starting a full-time Master’s degree programme. Integrated Master’s programmes (a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programme) are excluded from this.
  • Field of study: Your degree programme must be in the field of engineering (electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or electronics) or in the fields of data, cyber security, telecommunications, business analytics, cloud computing or AI.
  • University: You can study at any UK university that offers a suitable degree programme. Twelve partner universities, including Edinburgh, Strathclyde, Glasgow, Cambridge and Imperial College London, are preferred, but are not a requirement.
  • Grades: You hold, or expect to get, a bachelor's degree with honours at 2:1 or better, or a completed master's, from a recognised university. If you are in your final undergraduate year, the award depends on you reaching that grade.
  • University place: Applications for a place on a Master’s programme must also be made via the university’s standard procedure. Applications that do not include this information will be rejected.
  • Right to work: You will need a residence and work permit for the UK. Citizens of the EU, the EEA and Switzerland must have ‘Settled Status’ or a UK visa. People of any nationality may apply, provided they meet these requirements.
  • No double funding: You must not be in receipt of any other scholarship during the funding year. Furthermore, you must not have previously received a scholarship from ScottishPower, the ScottishPower Foundation or Iberdrola.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the ScottishPower scholarship portal. The application period runs from 2 March to 29 March 2026 and closes at midnight UK time. The selection process begins with a digital interview, which includes game-based assessments. If you pass this stage, you will attend a face-to-face assessment day in Glasgow or Hoylake. Results will be announced by early June 2026.
