Dow Memorial Trust Scholarship (Dentistry)

You will receive an annual scholarship throughout your dentistry degree at University of Dundee in Scotland. The amount increases over the course of your studies: approximately 2,340 EUR per year (£2,000) in the years 1 to 3, approximately 2,900 EUR (£2,500) in the year 4 and approximately 3,150 EUR (£2,700) in the year 5. The additional amount in year 5 covers your registration fee with the General Dental Council (GDC). You will retain it throughout all 5 years, provided your grades remain satisfactory. The scholarship is provided by the Dow Memorial Trust, which has supported around 125 students in Dundee since 1998.

Who can apply

• Degree: You are studying for a Bachelor’s degree in dentistry and are either already enrolled or have been offered a place to start your studies.
• University: You’re studying at the University of Dundee.
• Attendance: You study full time.
• Financial need: You can provide evidence that you need financial support for your studies.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, including those from the UK, Ireland, the rest of Europe and beyond.
• Whole person: The selection process is about more than just your grades. Your voluntary work, your hobbies, your achievements and any personal challenges you have overcome also play a part.

How to apply

The university’s admissions team will check whether you meet the entry requirements. Anyone who meets the requirements will receive further instructions on how to apply. The application deadline is 9 March 2026 for the degree programme starting on 22 September 2026.

How realistic are your chances?

This grant is very narrowly defined: only dental students from a single university who can demonstrate financial need are eligible, so the pool of eligible applicants is small. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide evidence of your financial need, your chances are good. As the foundation takes your entire background into account – not just your grades – an authentic, well-documented personal application is more important than a polished one.
