About this scholarship

What you get

Whilst studying abroad, you will receive a monthly grant of 300 to 400 EUR for a stay of 3 to 12 months. The amount depends on where you are going:

  • 400 EUR/month for countries with a higher cost of living (such as Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Norway or Sweden).
  • 350 EUR/month for countries with a medium cost of living (such as Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands or Spain).
  • 300 EUR/month for the other countries (such as Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Turkey).

You will also receive a flat-rate travel allowance based on distance. For example, you will receive 275 EUR for a journey of 500 to 1,999 km, or 320 EUR if you travel by climate-friendly means of transport such as train or bus. There are no tuition fees at the host university. If you come from an outermost region or an overseas territory, the monthly scholarship may be increased to 700 EUR.

As well as studying abroad, you can also use the scholarship for an internship lasting between 2 and 12 months at a company, a research centre or a university. You can also undertake a short blended-learning course (5 to 30 days abroad combined with online learning) or a short research placement for PhD students lasting 5 to 30 days. The programme is run by the University of Évora as part of the EU’s Erasmus+ programme.
