University of Oxford - Louis Dreyfus-Weidenfeld Scholarship and Leadership Programme

Benefit

You will receive a fully funded master's place at the University of Oxford. The scholarship covers 100% of your tuition fees. You will also receive a living allowance of at least 21,805 GBP (about 25,400 EUR) for the entire duration of your studies, which is usually 12 months. In addition to the financial support, you will take part in the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Leadership Programme, a compulsory year packed with activities: philosophical discussions, business and communication training, long-term mentoring (regular guidance from an experienced mentor) and a wide network of scholarship holders and alumni. The programme begins with an introductory event lasting several days in Oxford, before the semester commences in September. The scholarship is administered by the Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust. The Louis Dreyfus strand is funded by the Louis Dreyfus Foundation, which focuses on food security and sustainability.

Eligibility

• Degree: You already hold a bachelor’s degree.
• Where you live: You normally live in one of the 130 eligible countries in Africa, Asia or South America, for example in India, Nigeria, Kenya, Brazil, Colombia, Pakistan or Vietnam.
• Course: You are applying for a new full-time Master’s programme at Oxford from the list of eligible programmes. This includes politics, economics, the environment, agriculture, water management, health, social sciences and regional studies.
• Return plan: You plan to return to your home country or region after completing your studies in order to help improve public life there.
• Career fit: You can demonstrate a clear link between your degree programme and your long-term goals, as well as your achievements to date in the areas of leadership and impact.
• Louis Dreyfus focus: This degree programme is aimed at future leaders in the agricultural sector, with a focus on food security and sustainability. Relevant subject areas include agriculture, healthcare, environmental and water management, as well as economic, domestic and foreign policy.
• Not eligible: You cannot apply if you are already enrolled at the University of Oxford (unless you are already a scholarship holder) or if you wish to defer your place.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the University of Oxford’s application portal for Master’s programmes. Select the ‘Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholarships and Leadership Programme’ and upload the required personal statement. Submit your application by the January deadline for your programme, as only applications received by that date will be considered for the scholarship. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a virtual interview between March and June; the decision on the award is expected to be made by the end of May.
