General Description

The Institute of Mathematics and its Application offers a number of scholarships including the Mathematics Scholarship. This scholarship is a tax free grant of £25,000 that helps the scholars to be an inspirational secondary maths teacher and future leader. It provides two years free membership and access to resources and events of big Mathematics organization such as: Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, The London Mathematical Society, The Royal Statistical Society, Mathematics in Education and Industry.

It is recommended to complete any Maths Subject Enhancement (SKE) course before applying to give basic of mathematical knowledge needed to complete the initial and written test.

Requirements

The scholarship is available for candidates who: qualify as a home student, have or expect to achieve a First, 2.1 or postgraduate degree (Masters/PhD) in a subject with a strong mathematical content OR have completed or will complete a SKE OR have a non-mathematical degree with extensive mathematical professional experience, have accepted a place on/are applying for unsalaried secondary mathematics initial teacher training in England. The candidates should also be commited to teaching in England.
