The Care Leaver’s bursary aims to support care leavers who are entering Higher Education for the first time. The Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 states that a Care leaver is someone who has been in care of the Local Authority for a period of 13 weeks or more spanning their 16th birthday.

General Description

The University of East Anglia offers a range of bursaries for both Home and EU students. One of those bursaries is the Care Leavers Bursary. It is valued at £3,000 per year. It is available for up to four years of undergraduate study. The support is based on fees so is offered on a pro-rata basis for students paying half fees or less.

All applicants must be registered students of the University of East Anglia. And they must be full-time and studying an undergraduate degree. Students cannot receive more than one bursary, and they must have been in local authority care.
