General Description

These scholarships are funded by the participating institutions in the UK and the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and is funded by CSC too. It aims to support students coming from developing commonwealth countries with excellent academic caliber, but cannot afford studying at UK due to financial reasons. The awards will not be given for doctoral studies or undergraduate studies, but they are only presented for taught Masters’ courses. The subjects must be related to economic, social and technological development of the home country of students. These awards are presented for one-year taught postgraduate courses. CSC will be covering tuition fees and air fates to and from the UK while the scholar’s host institution will be paying the maintenance allowance that will be £1,173 per month for scholars based in London and £948 per month for the rest of the UK. There will be a grant values up to £225 to cover Master’s costs in addition to £200 for study travel.

Requirements

Applicants must be holding a first degree whether at first class or upper second-class level. They must get a confirmation for sponsoring institutions stating that they are fluent in oral and written English to start their studies directly. They must certify being nationals of a Commonwealth developing country and not only living or studying there, haven’t undertaken any studies lasted on year or more in any developed country. They must certify also that they or their families cannot be paying for studying in the UK. They must certify that they will return to home country as soon as their award ends. False declarations will cause at least CSC’s share of the award to be terminated. Applicants must submit the applications through the Commission’s Electronic Application System.
