The UKIERI is the UK and India Education and Research Initiative. The money used by UKIERI to fund these scholarships are primarily sourced from the UK's and India's governments. The goal of these scholarships is to mutually benefit the UK and India and to give excellent Indian students the opportunity to pursue a doctorate in the UK. The scholarships cover all academic fees, international air fare, monthly stipend and visa costs.
In order to be eligible for this award, the student must be an Indian national with a valid Indian passport, Below 35 years of age. In addition, the student should hold a Master’s (postgraduate) degree from a reputed/recognized university/institution with a First or Upper Second Class award in the relevant subject/field. Furthermore the student must be keen to pursue a full time Doctoral Research (Ph.D., D.Phil.) degree from a UK university. Also, the student must be fluent in spoken and written English. Finally, the student must be able to fulfil any other admission criteria laid down by the university.
