General Description

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships programme has been established by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) with the purpose to attract and retain world-class doctoral students in order to promote Canada as a global high quality research pole. The fellowship provided will amount to 50000 Canadian dollars (currently about 33720 euro) a year for a maximum of three years.

Requirements

Candidates must be prospective PhD students, or doctoral students who are a maximum of 20 months into their PhD. Applicants should be nominated by Canadian higher education institutions and will be ranked on the basis of their academic excellence (as demonstrated by past academic results and by transcripts, awards and distinctions) and grade of civic engagement (measured taking into account parliamentary page positions and internships, political activity, and/or elected positions).
