Qualifying students starting a learning disability nursing course at a UK university are not required to pay tuition fees. The UK's National Health Service (NHS) pays this fee on the student's behalf. Other help is also available in the form a bursary. The rules on who qualifies for bursaries are different than the rules for tuition fee payments. Plus bursaries are means tested. This means the amount awarded depends on financial need. Finally reduced rate student loans are also available. Students who qualify for a bursary can apply for these loans.
Students from the UK or the EU are eligible to have their tuition fees paid for a mental health nursing course. The course must be full-time. Bursaries, on the other hand, are only available to students from the UK.
