University of Málaga master tuition support

You will receive tuition waiver worth up to 600 EUR per academic year. The amount will be credited to your student account and will not be paid out to you in cash. The University of Málaga offers this programme to cover the public tuition fees of Master’s students who are unable to afford them. A Master’s programme worth 60 credits is eligible for funding for one year. A Master’s programme with 90 or 120 credits can be funded for up to two years, with an additional year possible for part-time study. If your family is entitled to a general multi-child discount, the maximum amount will be reduced by half.

Who can apply

• Level: You are enrolled on an official Master’s degree programme at the University of Málaga for 2025/2026.
• Field of study: Open to all subjects.
• First master's: This is the first official Master’s programme you are enrolling on. You have not previously started any other official Master’s programme.
• Nationality: You are a Spanish national, come from another EU country (provided that you or your family are working in Spain), or are a non-EU foreign national covered by Spanish immigration law.
• Financial need: Your 2024 household income must remain below certain thresholds, for example 14,818 EUR for a single-person household or 40,773 EUR for a household of four. There are also asset limits. Applicants with the lowest per capita income will be given priority for funding until the funds have been exhausted.
• No double funding: You are not receiving any other scholarship to cover the same tuition fees, such as a Master’s scholarship from the Ministry or the Junta de Andalucía for the same academic year.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the University of Málaga’s ‘Portal Académico’. The application deadline is 13 December. Places are limited and will be allocated on the basis of household income, with priority given to applicants with the lowest income.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a means-tested exemption with an upper limit of 600 EUR, aimed at UMA Master’s students who have not received the Federal Ministry’s scholarship. Places are allocated starting with the lowest per capita income and working upwards until the funds are exhausted; your chances therefore increase the tighter your household budget is. Provided you clearly meet the income thresholds and apply by the deadline, a suitable applicant has a good chance of being successful.
