About this scholarship

What IANUS II offered

IANUS II paid a monthly grant to study, research or teach at a European university. The amount depended on your level:

  • 1,000 EUR/month for Bachelor and Master students
  • 1,500 EUR/month for doctoral candidates
  • 1,800 EUR/month for post-doctoral researchers
  • 2,500 EUR/month for university staff

The grant covered the full cost of your stay, including study, training and research. Stays lasted from a single month for staff up to 24 months for Master's and doctoral students. IANUS II was part of the EU's Erasmus Mundus programme. A network of European and Eastern European universities ran it, coordinated by Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași in Romania.

Who could apply

  • Nationality: You were a citizen of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine.
  • Level: Bachelor, Master, doctoral and post-doctoral students could apply, plus academic and administrative staff. If your home university was not part of the IANUS II network, you could not apply for a Bachelor stay, but Master, doctoral, post-doctoral and staff stays were still open to you.
  • Where you studied: You studied or worked at a university in one of those six countries.
  • Field of study: Any subject.
  • Language: You had the language skills your host university required.
  • Special situations: If you were in a vulnerable situation, for example a refugee or unfairly expelled from your university, the project team could offer tailored support.

How to apply

IANUS II is no longer running. The last call for applications closed on 20 January 2015. No further calls opened after the 2015/2016 round, and the project ended in 2017.
