About this scholarship

Violin Maker Søren P. Sørensen's Memorial Foundation grant

You get a one-off grant to buy a violin. This is a single payment towards the cost of an instrument, not a monthly living allowance. The amount is not published; the foundation sets it for each recipient. This Danish foundation (Violinbygger Søren P. Sørensens Mindefond) was set up in 1998 to help talented young violinists afford a better instrument. The Syddansk Musikkonservatorium (SDMK) in Odense runs it.

Who can apply

  • Instrument: You play the violin. No other instruments qualify.
  • Where you study: You are enrolled at one of the three Jutland music conservatories in Denmark.
  • Talent: You stand out as a violinist. Selection is based on musical ability.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You cannot apply yourself; someone else has to nominate you. The Syddansk Musikkonservatorium in Odense administers the foundation and answers questions.
