General Description

The FDP-affiliated Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom is one of the twelve nation-wide scholarship programmes which support students at German universities. The amount of funding is a maximum of 585 EUR per month (calculated according to BaföG). In addition, fellows receive 150 EUR for books per month regardless of parental income. After a successfully completed trial year of funding, the scholarship can be obtained to reach the maximum funding term according to BaföG.

Requirements

The applicants can be German students of all disciplines. Application can be made from the second semester. An application just before graduation, however, is excluded. To obtain the scholarship, proof of above average study and academic performance must be rendered. In addition, candidates must have demonstrated social commitment, e.g. at the university (student council, university committees, political student organisation), in a liberal party, in social institutions, associations or initiatives (e.g. culture, sport, social, municipal, human rights, international exchange, etc.). In addition, suitability of character is necessary in terms of a liberal understanding of values.
