The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is one of twelve German student support foundations offering support to gifted students. It has links to the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). The Foundation awards a stipend to support foreign doctoral students at German universities. The recipient of the stipend gets a maximum of 950 Euros per month (further contributions possible depending on personal circumstances).
Foreign doctoral students from all disciplines are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted after the doctoral programme has begun. Doctoral students in the areas of human medicine, dental mediicine and veterinary medicine are excluded from applying. Applicants' academic performance during their university studies must have been above average. Demonstration of an active commitment to political, community-based or social causes is required. The personal suitability of the applicant will be decisive in determining their success. The social and academic relevance of the subject of the thesis will also be taken into account. Applicants must also demonstrate a willingness to return to their country of origin after concluding their studies.
