About this scholarship
Linex Foundation (Frede Duelund Nielsen's Foundation)
You will receive a one-off grant of up to about 3,350 EUR (up to a maximum of 25,000 DKK per grant). This Danish foundation was established in accordance with the will of Frede Duelund Nielsen, the engineer who founded the company Linex A/S. It supports two very different areas: education and the fight against disease, with a focus on children with spasticity (a condition that causes stiff, tense muscles). The foundation awards a total of around 1 million DKK per year.
Who can apply
- For education, only institutions: As a student, you cannot apply directly. Only schools and higher education institutions can submit an application, and they must pass the funds on to their students. This applies to all types of higher education, both in Denmark and abroad.
- For health, individuals and researchers: People who are ill can receive support to aid their recovery, with priority given to children with spasticity whose families are in financial difficulty. Research groups working to combat diseases may also apply.
- Field of study: Open to all areas.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Health funding limit: The money is intended for the treatment or cure of diseases, not for the alleviation of the symptoms of an existing condition.
How to apply
Please complete the official application form provided by the relevant law firm and post it to the foundation in Farum. It must be received by 31 March each year. Applications made on health grounds must be accompanied by a medical certificate signed within the past calendar year.
How realistic are your chances?
This is a narrowly defined, specialised funding scheme. As a school pupil or university student, you cannot apply directly; your school or university must submit the application on your behalf, which excludes most individuals. The ‘Health’ category is restricted to families with children suffering from spasticity who are in financial need, so the target group is small. If you meet one of these criteria and submit a clear, well-documented application by the deadline, your chances are good.
