General Description

The Computer Science Department at the University of Oxford offers Doctoral Studentships that are funded by the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) in Cheltenham. The project the scholar will be working on is "non-interference Assurance Methods for Cloud Environments". They will spend 2-4 weeks a year at GCHQ headquarters in Cheltenham. This project is aimed to create trust in the cloud provider to store data reliably, perform the operations required on it, and not to allow other parties to gain access to this data and corrupt it. The unique challenge for the scholarship receiver is to create hardware shared between tasks submitted by different users. The whole project is meant to last 3 to 5 years. Scholarship are worth £6,559 per year and cover university and college fees. The scholar also receives provision for a laptop and travel to meetings and conferences.

Requirements

This scholarship is available to UK nationals. Applicants must be ready to undergo GCHQ's security clearance procedures. Candidates must also satisfy the usual requirements for studying a doctorate at the University of Oxford.
