General Description

Two PhD studentships are available as part of the ‘Digital Critical Edition of Middle-Period Works by Arthur Schnitzler (1862-1931)’ project funded by the AHRC. The tenure of the studentship is for 3 years. One studentship is on the research subject of Schnitzler in Britain; the other is on Schnitzler and Modernist Drama: Puppets, Dolls, Automata. The stipend for the studentship is currently in the region of £13,726 (outside London) and £15,726 (including London allowance).

Requirements

Candidates should be UK or EU citizens. Candidates must have an excellent command of both English and German. Candidates should have a First Class or an Upper Second Class degree, and preferably a Masters qualification in a subject relevant to the research project. Candidates should be familiar with the the literature of European modernism, Austrian literature c. 1900 and with the work of Arthur Schnitzler, the British theatre scene and translation industry or with the broader European theatre scene. Candidates should have experience in building and maintaining websites and blogs.
