General Description

The Cumbria Bursary is an annual cash award that is funded to students of The University of Cumbria who meet the criteria. The university offers up to 85 Cumbria Bursaries, each will award £1,000 for up to three years of study. Bursaries will be allocated according to the specified criteria, and there is no need to apply for this bursary. If there are more students who meet the criteria than there are awards, they will be selected based on the prioritisation criteria.

Requirements

Student should apply for income assessed student finance as early as possible and consent to share the financial information. One will be eligible to receive the awards if household residual income is £25,000 or less (verified by the Student Loans Company), student's fee is neither paid nor part-paid through a sponsorship arrangement. Student is not NHS funded and should be a new entrant to Higher Education. Student is not undertaking a postgraduate initial teacher training course leading to qualified teacher status. Student is not directly continuing from one course to another (for example, from foundation degree or HND on to the final year of an honours degree). Student has confirmed the University of Cumbria as their first choice.

Student will be prioritized if they have left Local Authority Care, and the prioritisation will continue based on the household income, the area where not many people go into Higher Education, and disability declaration.
