The Voralberg region awards state (Land) stipends to support students enrolled on courses at universities (Hochschulen) or universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschulen) inside and outside of Austria. In exceptional cases they may be awarded to students at other post-secondary institutions of education. Each grant is worth a maximum of 2,000 Euros per year. Students having already received one or more grants may apply for renewal of the grant in the following academic year(s). An additional 500 Euros per recipient is available for students who have been affected by the reduction in family assistance payments (Familienbeihilfe).
Candidates must be Austrian citizens, EU citizens or citizens of a country in the EEA. Their principal residence must have been in Voralberg for the three years or more directly prior to the application. Scholarships are awarded based on social need. There is a prescribed minimum duration of study (with one semester of tolerance). Students must be under 45 years of age at the time of application and must be completing their first degree. They must not previously have sought state study assistance or educational grants.
