About this award / prize
Armin Tschermak von Seysenegg Prize
You receive a one-off prize of 5,000 EUR for an outstanding piece of scientific work. It is awarded once a year by the Society of Friends of the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna (Freunde der VUW). The prize is named after Armin Tschermak von Seysenegg, a former professor of physiology at the Vienna veterinary school. It is meant to recognise early-career researchers.
Who can apply
- Who it is for: You are an early-career researcher at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna.
- Your work: You are submitting an outstanding piece of academic work that you have written at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna.
- Field: Veterinary medicine.
- Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
How to apply
You must submit your application by 1 September each year to the Vice-Rectorate for Research at the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna. A committee comprising professors and lecturers assesses the applications submitted. The Board of Trustees makes the final decision.
How realistic are your chances?
As only researchers from a single university are eligible to apply, the pool of candidates is small, but the standards are high. If you have produced a truly outstanding piece of academic work or a dissertation in the field of veterinary medicine at the University of Vienna, you have a genuine chance of winning. The prize is not awarded every year; therefore, the jury only honours work that it considers to be truly outstanding.
