General Description

Professor Michael Grimes was the first microbiologist to be employed by University College Cork. He made significant contributions to developing microbiology as a discipline at UCC. Dr. Helen Grimes O'Cearbhaill established a student prize in his honor. The Professor Michael Grimes Student Prize was only avaliable from 2004-2006. It was tenable for one year. To receive this scholarship a student had to obtain the highest overall aggregate mark in Food Microbiology in the third and final year of the BSc Food Science prgram. The prize consisted of a small cash prize and a parchment.

Requirements

The prize shall be awarded to the student who achieves the overall highest aggregate mark Food Microbiology modules in the third and final year of the BSc (Hons) Food Science program. The student must receive a minimum of a 2H1 grade.
