About this grant / loan

What you get

If you are studying at the Haute Ecole de la Province de Namur (HEPN) in Belgium and find yourself in financial or personal difficulties, you will receive practical and financial help. The amounts are not fixed. The social services department will assess your needs on a case-by-case basis.

Every HEPN student is entitled to the following support:

  • You can pay your tuition fees (Minerval) in several instalments.
  • Up to 60 euros a year for a sports pass.
  • A portion of the cost of buying or hiring a bicycle.
  • A weekly food hamper worth 5 EUR.
  • Full reimbursement of the costs of vaccinations required for a stay abroad, once your health insurance has covered its share.
  • A loan laptop, in case your own breaks down.

Should you find yourself in genuine financial difficulty, a Social Council (Conseil Social, the body responsible for deciding on higher grants) may award you a higher amount:

  • A free photocopy card.
  • Money for enrolment fees, travel costs, your student accommodation, equipment, work placements or healthcare costs.
  • A 0% loan to cover the enrolment fee.
  • An advance payment in case your regional study grant is paid late.
  • Additional support following a sudden tragedy, such as the death of a parent, a flood or a fire.

The service is run by a social worker.
