About this grant / loan

What you get

If your budget is tight, you will receive a grant to help with the day-to-day costs of your studies at Haute École Robert Schuman (HERS) in Belgium. The amount of the grant is determined on an individual basis for each student. The grant can cover travel costs, rent, meals, childcare, placement fees, study trips and the additional costs associated with studying abroad. One benefit is subject to a fixed ceiling: the reimbursement of counselling sessions, which is available to all HERS students. This is limited to 1,200 EUR per year if you are already receiving support from the Conseil Social, and to 800 EUR per year if this is not the case. The Conseil Social is the university’s social committee, which decides on the award of support. The support is provided by HERS via this committee.

Who can apply

  • University: You are enrolled at HERS, at one of its campuses (Libramont, Arlon, Virton).
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. Your gender or personal circumstances are irrelevant.
  • Financial need: Your family income, household make-up and social situation show that you need help. The Conseil Social sets the threshold and can make exceptions in special cases.

How to apply

You arrange an appointment with the social worker at your own campus. The social worker will assess your situation using a questionnaire and the documents you have provided. Your documents will then be forwarded to the Conseil Social, which meets four to five times a year and will treat your name in strict confidence. You can submit your application at any time during the academic year.
