HORESTA Anniversary Foundation grant

You get a one-off grant to pay for further training in the hotel and restaurant industry. There is no fixed amount. HORESTA sets it for each applicant. A recent award was 10,000 DKK (about 1,340 EUR) towards studying at a hotel school in Switzerland. You can use the money for a study stay at a vocational school or university in Denmark or abroad. You can also use it for courses, seminars, congresses or a development trip to learn new skills in your field. HORESTA, the Danish trade association for the hotel, restaurant and tourism industry, runs the fund.

Who can apply

• Your training: You have finished your apprenticeship or vocational training in the hotel and restaurant industry.
• What for: You want to train further in the same industry.
• Field: Hotel, restaurant and tourism work, for example as a cook or other hospitality professional.
• Where you study: In Denmark or abroad, both count.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Financial situation: You explain on the form why you need the money and describe your financial circumstances.

How to apply

Fill in HORESTA's application form and send it to its grant committee (Legatudvalget). Grants are awarded twice a year. Part of the fund also goes out as a prize in a nationwide competition for hotel and restaurant apprentices. You cannot apply for that prize yourself. Someone has to nominate you for your strong results.
