About this scholarship

What the foundation gives you

You will receive a one-off payment as a grant towards the purchase of a violin. This is not a monthly living allowance. The foundation does not disclose the amount and determines it on an individual basis for each recipient. The money comes from the Memorial Fund of the violin maker Søren P. Sørensen (Violinbygger Søren P. Sørensens Mindefond), a Danish foundation that helps young violinists to afford a good violin.

Who can apply

  • Instrument: You play the violin. Pupils who play a different instrument are not eligible to apply.
  • Where you study: You are enrolled at one of the three Jutland music conservatoires (jyske musikkonservatorier) in Denmark.
  • Talent: The foundation selects scholarship recipients on the basis of their talent, so as a violinist you’ll need to stand out from the crowd.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.

How to apply

You cannot apply yourself. You must be nominated by someone else; in other words, that person must submit your name. The foundation is administered by the Syddansk Music Conservatoire in Odense.
