About this award / prize

Caser R&D in Dependence Care Award (I+D+i category)

You will receive a one-off prize of 20,000 EUR, as well as a work of art symbolising the award. The Spanish foundation ‘Fundación Caser’ awards this prize once a year in recognition of a completed research project. The R&D&I (Research, Development and Innovation) category recognises scientific or technological work that improves the daily lives of people in need of care or with disabilities. Examples include advances in the fields of health and social care, accessibility, and assistive technologies and products.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You can register as an individual or as an organisation (company, institution or public body).
  • What you submit: A completed research or innovation project that improves the care or quality of life of people in need of care or with disabilities, as well as their families and carers.
  • Where it was done: You carried out the project in Spain.
  • Timing: Your work is already completed before the call opens.
  • Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply. There are no personal restrictions.
  • Not already awarded: Your project has not yet won a Fundación Caser prize.

How to apply

Applications are made online via the Foundation’s funding portal. You fill in the form and can add additional documents and links. The 2026 window runs from 11 February to 25 March 2026, 17:00. A panel of experts from various disciplines will select the winner. The winners will be notified by email in June.

How realistic are your chances?

This is a single national prize worth 20,000 euros for one project per category, ensuring genuine competition. In the 2026 round, 32 projects were submitted in the ‘R&D&I’ category, of which only one won. A clearly innovative project with proven, practical results for people in care has the best chance of success. Due to its narrow focus on care and disability, the field of entrants is smaller than in open research awards.
