Supplementary mobility allowance from the University of Jaén

You will receive a one-off supplement of 600 EUR on top of your existing overseas scholarship. You are eligible for this funding if you already have an Erasmus+ or UJA mobility place. The funding comes from the Provincial Council of Jaén (Diputación Provincial de Jaén), which finances 60 of these grants each year through the University of Jaén. Payment will be made into the same account as your main mobility grant. A parallel scheme, run by more than 50 local authorities in the province of Jaén, provides a further 100 grants. These grants vary in amount – for example, 100 EUR per month of your stay, up to a set municipal budget – and are available to students residing in a participating municipality.

Who can apply

• University: You’re studying at the University of Jaén in Spain.
• Mobility place: You have already been allocated a study place abroad under the Erasmus+ programme or the university’s own mobility programme (Plan Propio), which you have accepted, and you have not withdrawn from it.
• Degree level: To be eligible for the provincial parliament grant, you must be a Bachelor’s student (Grado). Master’s students are also eligible for grants from local councils.
• Residence (town-council allowances only): You must be registered as a resident in a participating municipality in the province of Jaén from 31 December 2025.
• Field of study: Anyone interested is welcome to apply.
• Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities may apply, provided they are enrolled at the University of Jaén.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online via the university’s intranet (‘Virtual University’) under the ‘Mobility’ section. The application deadline for the grant from the District Office is 15 May, and for the grants from the City Council, it is 8 April. Places are allocated on a merit-based basis. The main criterion is your grade point average at the time your mobility place is awarded. You will receive additional points if you are in receipt of a state scholarship, come from a large family, have a disability of 33% or higher, or are a victim of domestic violence or terrorism.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding is aimed at a small target group: applicants must already have been awarded an Erasmus+ or UJA mobility place, meaning that only students who have cleared this hurdle can take part in the competition. With 60 funding places from the district and 100 places from the city council, the number of funding places is appropriate in relation to this limited target group. A good grade point average or one of the circumstances that lead to bonus points will significantly improve your ranking.
