About this scholarship

What the IB scholarship gives you

With this scholarship, you will receive a reduction on your tuition fees at the private Universidad Camilo José Cela (UCJC) in Madrid. The discount amounts to a specific percentage of your total annual costs and covers both the enrolment fee and the tuition fees. The amount of the discount depends on your final IB mark and your degree programme. For most degree programmes, it is 30% (IB score 34–36), 35% (37–39) or 40% (40–44). For the dentistry programme, it is lower: 20%, 25% or 30% for the same grade ranges. The discount applies per academic year. You can renew it as long as you remain at the UCJC and continue to meet the conditions. In return, you will carry out between 10 and 150 hours of work per year in a department, service or project at the university.

Who can apply

  • Degree: You are starting an official bachelor’s degree (Grado) at UCJC.
  • Your qualification: You completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in the year prior to your application, achieving an IB mark of at least 34.
  • IB status: You left an IB-certified school no more than one school year ago.
  • Field of study: Applies to almost all degree programmes. Medicine is assessed separately; a lower discount scale applies to dentistry; and postgraduate and teacher training programmes are excluded.
  • Nationality: Applicants of any nationality, whether from Spain or abroad, are welcome to apply.
  • Financial need: Not required. You do not need to provide proof of your income.

How to apply

You apply online via the MyUCJC portal and submit your official IB certificate from your school. The standard application deadline is 31 July of the year in which your degree programme begins. If you are admitted after this date, you will have 15 days from the date of your confirmation of admission to apply.

How realistic are your chances?

This is not a competition prize, but a performance-based discount. If you have completed the IB with at least 34 points and enrol on an eligible degree programme at UCJC, you will automatically qualify for the discount scale, so the outcome is predictable. The better your IB result, the higher the discount. Apply by the deadline in July and have your official IB certificate to hand.
