Lounais-Suomen Syöpäyhdistys - Scholarship

Dissertation Grant from the Southwest Finnish Cancer Funds

You will receive a one-year 5,000 EUR scholarship to support your doctoral thesis on the subject of cancer. The funding comes from the South-West Finland Cancer Funds (Lounaissuomalaiset Syöpärahastot), which are administered by the Lounais-Suomen Syöpäyhdistys, a Finnish cancer and patient organisation based in Turku. Several funds award these scholarships, with some reserved for specific types of cancer such as gynaecological, paediatric, prostate or blood cancers. You may only receive this scholarship once.

Who can apply

• Study level: You have been admitted to a doctoral school or a PhD programme.
• Field of study: Your doctoral thesis focuses on the subject of cancer, addressing either the scientific or the psychosocial aspects.
• Progress: At least part of your doctoral thesis has already been published or accepted for publication. Your full doctoral thesis had not yet been accepted by the end of the application deadline.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Where you study: You are carrying out your research in Finland.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via the Lounais-Suomen Syöpäyhdistys by 31 August. Funding is awarded through annual calls for applications. You should therefore check before you begin that the current call for applications is already open.
