About this award / prize
The Southern Law Association Prize
You receive a one-off prize of 1,000 EUR if you are a master's law student (LLM) at University College Cork (UCC). It goes to the LLM student with the highest mark for their 12,500-word (25-credit) dissertation, counted at the first exam attempt, across all LLM programmes in the School of Law. The money comes from the Southern Law Association, a professional body of lawyers in the Cork region, which funds the award each year.
Who can apply
- Level: You are a current LLM (master's in law) student at UCC.
- Field of study: Any of the LLM law programmes in the UCC School of Law.
- Where you study: University College Cork, in Ireland.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
- Result: You have the highest dissertation mark, achieved at your first exam attempt.
How to apply
There is no separate application. You are considered automatically based on your LLM dissertation mark. If two or more students tie for the highest mark, the Dean of the School of Law (or their nominee) picks the best dissertation. It must be of national or international significance and good enough to be published.
