About this scholarship

South Dublin County Council Bursary at TU Dublin

You will receive 2,500 EUR in your first year for your studies, as well as a further 2,500 EUR when you move up to second year, making a total of up to 5,000 euros over two years. The money helps with the day-to-day costs of your studies, such as travel and books. It is provided by South Dublin County Council, which has been funding this grant for students at TU Dublin from local partner schools since 2006. It is administered in conjunction with TU Dublin’s Access Support Service.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are starting the first year of a degree programme at level 6, 7 or 8 at the Tallaght Campus of TU Dublin. Levels 6 and 7 are shorter degree programmes, whilst Level 8 is a full honours degree.
  • Access route: You have gained entry to TU Dublin via an ‘Access’ pathway (HEAR, Access TU Dublin, QQI Access TU Dublin or the Access Foundation Programme). These pathways help students from under-represented groups to secure a place at university.
  • Age: You are under 23.
  • Where you live and went to school: You live in South Dublin County and attended one of the partner DEIS schools in the area, such as Collinstown Park, Killinarden, Mount Seskin, Deansrath or St Aidan's Community College, Greenhills College or Tallaght Adult Education Service.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Nationality: All nationalities welcome.
  • Second-year money: You will only receive the second payment once you have passed the first year and progressed to the second year.

How to apply

There is no open application form. The Access Office at TU Dublin selects students based on the highest ‘Leaving Certificate’ marks amongst eligible pupils from partner schools. The awards are presented at an annual ceremony on the Tallaght campus.
