About this award / prize

Cooperative Education Award

You will receive a medal in recognition of your outstanding achievements during your ‘Cooperative Education’ placement – the placement that forms an integral part of your degree programme at the University of Limerick. Each year, the university awards one prize per faculty, which is presented during the graduation ceremony. The awards are organised by the university’s Cooperative Education & Careers department. This is an honour, not a cash payment: no money is attached to the award.

Who can apply

  • University: You are studying for a bachelor’s degree at the University of Limerick.
  • Placement: You have completed a Cooperative Education placement, the work placement that is part of your programme.
  • Field of study: All faculties are eligible, with one prize being awarded in each faculty.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Performance: Your employer has taken particular notice of your work during the work placement.

How to apply

You cannot apply yourself. Your placement employer nominates you through the Final Employer Evaluation, an online survey sent to all employers at the end of your placement, and must add a supporting statement. Representatives of your faculty and the Cooperative Education & Careers Division then make the final choice.
