Yvoor Fonds scholarship (Utrecht University)

You get a one-off grant of 250 to 1,000 EUR towards a short study trip abroad of up to 3 months, for example a summer school or a language course. In exceptional cases a higher amount is possible. The grant only covers your funding gap, so you pay part of the cost yourself. The course abroad does not have to match your own subject. The fund was set up by Yvonne van Rooy, president of Utrecht University's executive board from 2004 to 2012, and is run by the Utrecht University Fund.

Who can apply

• University: You are enrolled as a bachelor's or master's student at Utrecht University.
• Grades: You have good results and earn at least 40 ECTS credits per academic year.
• Trip abroad: You are going abroad for a course of up to 3 months, and you leave only after the grant is awarded, not before.
• Membership: You become a 'studentvriend' (student friend) of the Utrecht University Fund.
• Student association (a plus): Membership of a social student association ('gezelligheidsvereniging') in Utrecht, plus an active role in a board or committee, counts in your favour but is not required.

How to apply

You apply once per academic year through the online funding portal of the Utrecht University Fund. The current round runs from 2 to 27 March 2026, and decisions come in June. An advisory committee reviews all applications and notifies everyone in writing, including those who are rejected.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is cut narrowly: you must study at Utrecht University, show solid credits, and plan a specific short trip abroad. That keeps the eligible group small. Active involvement in a student association is a real advantage the committee weighs, so a clear record there strengthens your case. There is only one round a year, so apply within the March window to be considered.
