General information on this scholarship

Institution:
University of Cambridge
Name:
Churchill College Cambridge Bursary Scheme

General Description

Every year, the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust offers up to ten bursaries to Churchill College Cambridge students. Each of these bursaries is worth £2000 a year for the duration of an undergraduate degree, subject to satisfactory performance. Bursaries come with the additional opportunity of a single overseas travel grant for academic or charitable purposes.

Requirements

Any British citizen who is offered a place (conditionally or unconditionally) at Churchill College may ask to be considered for a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Bursary. A student who is awarded a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Bursary will still be eligible for additional financial assistance from the Cambridge University scheme run by the Newton Trust. Applicants should also give some indication of their family’s financial circumstances, and the extent to which a bursary would help with financial hardship during their time at Cambridge. Application for a bursary is by letter from the candidate, addressed to the Senior Tutor at the College, explaining why the candidate feels that they should be considered for one of these bursaries and mentioning not just their academic record but, for example, their other interests or service to the community.
