General Description

The University of Kent has established the Gurkha Scholarship was established as a token of recognition to the Nepalese community and Gurkha regiments in the region. The Gurkha Scholarship covers tuition fees for one year, renewable for the duration of the programme of study, subject to satisfactory academic progress.

Requirements

This scholarship is open to serving and former members of Gurkha brigades located in Kent (The Royal Gurkha Rifles and The Queen's Gurkha Engineers) and their dependents. Applicants must be Home or EU students of the University of Kent who have accepted it as their first choice institution. Candidates must be able to demonstrate financial need. A covering letter stating the reasons to study their chosen subject must be submitted. Priority will be given to serving and former Gurkhas wounded in conflict and the dependents of Gurkhas wounded or killed in conflict. Successful candidates will be expected to act as an 'ambassador' for the University, their subject and faculty and attend University events when requested if not in conflict with either course attendance or classes being in session.
