Svenska Hemslöjdsföreningarnas Riksförbund - Ingeborg Power's Foundation

Ingeborg Stromberg Foundation scholarship

You will receive a one-off grant of 10,000 SEK (about 920 EUR) to fund an apprenticeship or a course in Sweden that will develop your craft skills. The funding comes from the Ingeborg Stromberg Foundation, one of several funds managed by Hemslojden, the national association of Swedish craft organisations. It is aimed at young craftspeople who wish to develop their craft skills and enhance their professional competencies.

Who can apply

• What you do: You are a craftsperson (slojdare) and work in the field of traditional crafts, for example in weaving, woodworking or textile production.
• Student or professional: Both students and practising craftspeople are welcome to apply.
• Age: You are a young craftsman who wants to develop your craft and skills further.
• Where you study: You’re using the money to fund your studies in Sweden.
• Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
• Your plan: You can clearly describe what the training is and how it will improve your craft.

How to apply

Applications are made online via the platform linked to on the Hemslojden scholarship page. You complete the form and upload images of your work as JPG files. The application period runs each year from 15 August to 15 September. A panel of craft experts reviews the applications and proposes award winners to the association’s board, which makes the final decision. All applicants will be informed of the result by the end of October.

How realistic are your chances?

This award is narrow: it goes to one younger craftsperson for training in Sweden, so few people fit it. If you work in traditional handicraft and can show a concrete training plan with strong images of your work, your prospects are good. A clear, well-evidenced application counts more than a polished one.
