About this award / prize
Stockholm's cultural grants
You will receive a one-off grant of SEK 40,000 (about 3,500 EUR) from the City of Stockholm’s Culture Committee (Kulturnämnd). Every year, the City awards 20 such grants to professional artists and cultural practitioners working in Stockholm. This grant recognises your contribution to the city’s cultural life over the past year. It is not a student grant.
Who can apply
- Who you are: You are a professional artist or cultural practitioner, not a student. You have either trained in an artistic profession or can demonstrate verifiable experience in your field.
- Your field: You work in one of the following artistic disciplines: fine art, crafts and applied art, photography, illustration, film, music, dance, theatre, musical theatre (opera) or literature.
- Where you live: You are registered as a resident (folkbokförd) in the municipality of Stockholm.
- Recent activity: You have worked professionally in Stockholm during the past year.
- Timing: You have not received this grant in the last three years.
- Nationality: Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply. The key requirement is that you live and work in Stockholm.
How to apply
You apply through the Cultural Administration's online portal. For the 2026 cycle, you can apply from 15 December 2025 until 2 February 2026 at 15:00, and your complete application must arrive before that time. The Culture Committee decides in April and notifies you through the portal.
How realistic are your chances?
Funding is strictly limited: you must live in Stockholm, be professionally active in one of the listed art forms, and must not have already received the grant in the last three years. This means that the pool of eligible applicants remains small. However, as only 20 grants are awarded annually across ten art forms, competition within each individual field is very fierce. Your chances depend on how clearly you can demonstrate your contribution to Stockholm’s cultural life over the past year.
