About this award / prize

Clemens Brosch award for young talents

You will receive a one-off prize of 4,000 EUR for an outstanding work of contemporary drawing or graphic art. Your submitted work will also be displayed as part of a public exhibition at Energie AG’s PowerTower in Linz, at no additional cost to you. An independent jury of art experts will select the winner, and the prize will be presented at a ceremony in Linz. The prize is awarded by Energie AG Upper Austria in collaboration with OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH in memory of the Upper Austrian draughtsman Clemens Brosch (1894-1926).

Who can apply

  • Art form: Your work is contemporary drawing or graphic art.
  • Age: You are up to 40 years old (born in 1985 or later). For each child you have raised, the limit rises by 3 years, up to age 45.
  • Nationality or residence: You are an Austrian national or have had your main permanent residence in Austria for at least 4 years.
  • Where you live: Artists from all over Austria, not just Upper Austria, are eligible to apply.

How to apply

Please submit the official form together with a CV in which you describe your artistic work, as well as images of your works (each with a title, technique, format and date). Send it by email or post to OÖ Landes-Kultur GmbH in Linz, or hand it in in person. The closing date for entries is 6 June (the date of the postmark applies). An independent jury will then select the winner.

How realistic are your chances?

In each round, only one person wins, and the quality of the work is what counts above all else. The age limit and the residency requirement in Austria restrict the field of entrants, but anyone in Austria who can draw is eligible to take part, so the competition is really tough. If your drawing or graphic work is compelling and distinctly contemporary, a well-prepared entry stands a real chance.
