Award of the Medical Chamber of the Province of Tirol

You are to receive a one-off prize of 5,000 EUR for outstanding achievement in medical research. This is a research prize, not a monthly scholarship. The Tyrolean Medical Association awards it to young doctors working in the field of science. It has been awarded since 1975 for outstanding research achievements relating to Tyrol.

Who can apply

• Who you are: You are a doctor and work in research.
• Age: You are under 40 when the award is announced.
• Your work: You are submitting an academic paper. This must have been written predominantly in Tyrol and must not be more than two years old at the start of the application period.
• Co-authored work: For collaborative work, please name a lead author as the submitter.
• Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
• Other prizes: You may apply for another award at the same time without being disqualified.
• Not accepted: Habilitation theses (a post-doctoral qualification thesis) do not count.

How to apply

Please send six printed copies of your entry by post to the Innsbruck Medical Association. The closing date for entries is 30 November 2026 (the date of the postmark will be taken as the date of submission). Only one entry per person is permitted.

How realistic are your chances?

The rules are narrow: you must be a doctor under 40, and the work must be in medicine and carried out mainly in Tirol. So the eligible group is small. If you clearly meet those conditions and can show strong, recent research, your prospects are good. This is a single annual prize, so the quality of your paper decides it.
