About this award / prize
Awards for Graduates of the Universities of Applied Sciences in Graz and Steyr
You will receive a cash prize for an outstanding Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis relating to the Austrian automotive industry. The Austrian Automotive Industry Association makes 18,000 EUR available each year. The money is divided into three categories, each worth 6,000 EUR each: production, logistics and automotive engineering. As a rule, two winners are selected per category, so your share will depend on how the jury allocates the 6,000 EUR. You will also receive a certificate, and the prize money will be paid out on the day of the awards ceremony. The prize has been awarded annually since 1999.
Who can apply
- Your study programme: You graduated from one of these degrees. For the Production block, at FH OÖ Campus Steyr: Operations Management (OMT) or Smart Production and Management (SPMT). For the Logistics block, also at FH OÖ Campus Steyr: International Logistics Management (ILM), Supply Chain Management (SCM) or Logistics and Engineering Management (LEM). For the Technology block, at FH Joanneum Graz: Automotive Engineering (FZT).
- Your thesis: You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis that has been marked ‘pass’.
- Topic: Your dissertation is clearly linked to the Austrian automotive industry.
- Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
How to apply
You enter through the head of your degree programme at FH OÖ Campus Steyr or FH Joanneum Graz. A commission of these programme heads picks the best theses per block and proposes the winners. There is no published deadline. The award ceremonies take place between December and April.
How realistic are your chances?
This award is very narrowly defined. Only graduates of a handful of specifically named degree programmes in Steyr and Graz, whose final-year dissertation relates to the Austrian automotive industry, are eligible to apply. This keeps the pool of applicants small, but the few places available go to the best final theses, as assessed by the programme directors. If your final thesis is genuinely on the subject of the automotive industry and has been well assessed, your prospects are good.
