About this scholarship
Margarete Czibulka-Förderpreis
You will receive a one-off award of EUR 1,000 to support you during the final phase of your studies at the mdw, the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. This is a one-off payment, not a monthly scholarship. The mdw Foundation, the university’s own foundation, awards two of these grants for the academic year 2026/27.
Who can apply
- University: You’re studying at the mdw, the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
- Field of study: You are enrolled in the subjects of conducting or composition and music theory.
- Study phase: You are in the final stage of your degree and are enrolled in your main art subject for the 2026 summer term.
- Financial need: You are unable to finance your studies entirely yourself. You can prove this by providing evidence of your parents’ income and your tenancy agreement.
- Nationality: Applicants of all nationalities are welcome to apply, and there is no age limit.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted online via the mdw form, which will be available from 9 February 2026. Please upload all documents via the form and submit your application by 29 May 2026, 23:59. Late or incomplete applications cannot be considered.
How realistic are your chances?
This scholarship is aimed at a very small target group: exclusively final-year students studying conducting, composition or music theory at a Viennese university who can also demonstrate financial need. As a result, the pool of eligible applicants remains small, meaning that a well-suited candidate will be competing against only a few others. If you clearly meet these criteria and can provide evidence of your financial hardship, your chances are good, even though only two scholarships are awarded each year.
