Fred Adlmüller Scholarship

You will receive the EUR 2,000 scholarship for one academic year at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Six of these scholarships are awarded each year, one of which is reserved for students on the Fashion course. The funds come from a trust established in the will of Fred Adlmüller (1909-1989), an Austrian fashion designer who taught at the Academy.

Who can apply

• University: You’re studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
• Nationality: You are an Austrian citizen. If you are from the EEA or another country, you may instead apply, under the same call for applications, for the separate ‘Fred Adlmüller Scholarship for International Students’, which is also worth 2,000 euros.
• Field of study: You are studying any art or design degree programme. One of the six places is reserved for the fashion sector.
• Study stage: You have reached at least the 6th semester of a diploma programme, the 3th semester of a bachelor’s programme or the 1th semester of a master’s programme.
• Results: You’ve got good marks. The university is checking your school report.

How to apply

Apply to the university by 30 April 2026. Please enclose proof of enrolment, proof of Austrian citizenship and proof that you have completed the required number of semesters. A funding committee will then review all applications and decide who will receive funding.

How realistic are your chances?

This funding scheme is very restrictive. You must be an Austrian citizen, be studying at a specific art academy and have reached a certain semester, meaning that the pool of eligible applicants is small. As there are six places available and one of these is reserved for the fashion sector, a suitable applicant with good grades stands a good chance. There is only one application deadline per year in April, so be sure to apply in good time.
