About this scholarship

Benefit

You will receive a one-off grant of 300 EUR to 3,000 EUR per academic year if you are studying in Austria, or between 500 EUR and 5,000 EUR for recognised study periods abroad. This grant does not need to be repaid. The exact amount depends on your family’s income. The grant is provided by the Landesgedächtnisstiftung (Tyrol), a fund run by the Austrian federal state of Tyrol. It is aimed at students who need financial support but receive no student grant, or one that is insufficient.

Eligibility

  • Where you live: Tyrol is at the heart of your life. Austrian nationals are eligible to take part. EU, EEA and Swiss nationals, as well as recognised refugees and certain other nationals living in Tyrol, may also be eligible to take part, depending on their residence status.
  • Degree: You are a full-time student and are duly enrolled on a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Diplom degree programme. Doctoral programmes, part-time programmes and distance-learning programmes are not eligible for funding.
  • Where you study: Any university, university of applied sciences, recognised private higher education institution or conservatoire in Austria, the EEA or Switzerland. Outside Europe, this is only possible for specific reasons.
  • Field of study: All subjects are welcome.
  • Age: You are under 30 when you apply.
  • Federal aid: You have a recent decision from the Federal Agency for Student Finance stating that you receive no financial support, or that the amount you receive is insufficient.
  • Family income: Your household’s monthly net income is below a certain threshold, for example 3,775 euros for 2 people or 4,422 euros for 4 people. If you are funding your studies yourself, your parents’ income is not taken into account.
  • Studying abroad: Funding is available for full degree programmes abroad, artistic training at leading institutions, research placements of at least 6 months required to complete your degree, or subjects not offered in Austria. One- or two-semester exchange programmes such as Erasmus, language courses, summer schools and work placements are not eligible for funding.

How to apply

Please apply by 30 April of the relevant academic year using the Province of Tyrol’s online form. The Foundation’s scholarship committee will make the decision and notify you of the outcome in writing.
