About this scholarship

Central bilateral agreements (KU Leuven)

For a short research visit to KU Leuven in Belgium, you will receive travel expenses and a daily allowance totalling up to approximately 1,550 EUR. Travel expenses will be covered up to 500 EUR if you are travelling from within the EU, or up to 1,000 EUR if you are travelling from outside the EU. You will also receive a daily allowance of 50 EUR per day in the first month and 30 EUR per day from the second month on. The stay lasts between 2 weeks and 1 months. KU Leuven covers the costs under its bilateral agreements. These are direct agreements it has entered into with partner universities worldwide.

Who can apply

  • Who you are: You are a professor, a postdoctoral researcher or a PhD student.
  • Your home university: You study or work at one of KU Leuven's partner universities, such as Radboud University Nijmegen, Stellenbosch University or Tsinghua University.
  • Research experience: If you are a PhD student, you must have at least 2 years’ research experience at your home university.
  • Field of study: All subjects can apply.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • No double funding: No other programme already pays for your stay.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted via your home university, which will organise your stay at KU Leuven. The application deadlines are 15 January, 15 March and 15 October. Each agreement has its own quota and budget, so the number of places is limited.
