About this scholarship

Wallonia-Brussels Federation study grant

You will receive a non-repayable grant of up to 6,227 EUR for one academic year, paid as a one-off lump sum. The exact amount depends on your household income, your nationality and the nature of your studies. The Wallonia-Brussels Federation (Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles) awards the grant to students from low-income households. From the academic year 2026–2027 onwards, the same body will also determine the amount of your tuition fees (minerval), meaning that a successful application may also result in a reduction or waiver of your tuition fees. You must reapply for each new academic year.

Who can apply

  • Where you study: You are enrolled as a full-time student at a recognised higher education institution in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation: a ‘Haute École’, a university or an ‘École Supérieure des Arts’. You must provide a final certificate of enrolment.
  • Field of study: Open to all subjects.
  • Level: You are studying for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. You are not eligible for this grant if you are studying for a PhD, a specialised Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or an adult education course. You are also not eligible for this grant if you already hold a qualification at the same level.
  • Financial need: Your household income from 2024 must remain below the specified thresholds. For example, 28,181.07 EUR if you have no dependants, or 36,850.51 EUR if you have one dependant. The threshold increases with each additional dependant.
  • Nationality: You are eligible if you are a Belgian national, an EU citizen with permanent residence or a work permit in Belgium (or a family member of such a person), or a non-EU citizen who has been living in Belgium for at least 5 years or whose parent from the EU works here. Refugees, stateless persons and those granted subsidiary protection are also eligible.
  • No double funding: You do not receive another education grant from outside the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

How to apply

You can apply online via the ‘Mon Espace’ portal using a Belgian eID or the free itsme app, or by registered post. The application period runs from 1 July to 31 October. Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received, so please apply early. All communication will be in French only.
