About this scholarship

What you get

You will receive up to 10,000 EUR per year for your studies at Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Brussels. There are three levels of funding. The amount awarded is based on your actual needs, such as tuition fees, accommodation costs and travel expenses between your home and the campus. You can apply to renew the scholarship each year on the basis of your academic performance until you have completed your studies. In addition to financial support, you will receive personalised support throughout your studies and benefit from a network of current students and alumni. You will also take part in themed meetings with other scholarship holders two or three times a year.

Who can apply

  • School qualification: You hold the CESS (the Belgian upper-secondary school leaving certificate) or an equivalent foreign qualification.
  • University: You are studying at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.
  • Financial need: Your household income is below the thresholds set by the ULB Student Welfare Service.
  • Field of study: Any topic is fine.
  • Nationality: Any nationality can apply.
  • Background: You will be given priority if you come from a family where higher education is not the norm, and you demonstrate the ability and motivation to study, as well as an interest in social engagement.

How to apply

Applications are made via the ULB Student Welfare Service (Service Social Etudiants). Your situation will be assessed during an interview there. Your application documents must include a letter of motivation in which you explain why you have chosen your subject, the ULB and this fund. You will also need a letter of recommendation from a teacher or the headteacher of the school where you obtained your CESS certificate. The selection process takes into account your academic performance, your financial need and your social commitment.
