About this scholarship

Inge and Jørgen Larsen's Memorial Scholarship

You will receive a grant for a specific research or study project. The fund awards a total of around 120,000 DKK (about 16,000 EUR) each year, divided amongst several grants. The amount of any individual grant is not disclosed. It supports two areas: medical and biomedical research, particularly cancer research, and further training abroad for engineering students. The money is intended for specific, clearly defined purposes, not for general living expenses. For applicants from the medical field, this means pilot studies, laboratory materials, analyses or small-scale clinical trials. For engineers, this means short courses, further training abroad, study trips or the construction of a prototype. The fund is an independent Danish foundation established in 1996 in memory of Inge and Jørgen Larsen.

Who can apply

  • What you can be: Either a younger researcher or PhD student in medicine or a related health science, or an engineering student seeking shorter further education abroad or support for a technical project.
  • Field of study: Medicine and health sciences (preferably cancer research) or engineering.
  • What the money is for: A clearly defined project, no salary and no long-term cover for living costs.
  • Affiliation: You do not need a link to an institute, clinic or supervisor, but a link is a plus.
  • Nationality: All nationalities can apply.
  • University: You do not need to be affiliated with a specific university, but you should have a connection to Denmark.

How to apply

There is no set application form. Please submit a brief, structured application by post or email. This usually comprises a one-page cover letter, a CV, a one-page financial plan and a one- to two-page project description setting out the purpose, methodology, expected outcomes and a timetable. The application deadline is 1 December, and the allocation of funding will be announced around mid-February.
